Why Should we Celebrate??
After coming from the colourful entertainment feast 'Oasis 2009' (Galfar's onam festival), I started thinking of the importance of celebrations in our life. I have approached few of my friends, colleagues and blog sites regarding the importance of celebrations in their life and with a question of 'why should we celebrate?' All were having different ideas and some of them were not at all interested to have celebrations due various socio-economic reasons. Even though the types and establishing of celebration are differs from person to person or place to place, definitely, there are some common elements or motives behind such events.
There are many important things in life. Learning, growing, loving, and exploring are all things that each person should take time for. Celebration is another thing that everyone should take time for. Celebration adds an excitement and a lot of fun to life.
Celebration can happen for a variety of formal or informal reasons. Probably most people have gone to a celebration in honour of someone's birthday, wedding, or the birth of a new baby. There is something deep inside humanity that loves to celebrate the best things in life. We love a good Christmas, Onam, Eid celebration or other celebrations that mark special holidays or family traditions.
Celebration doesn't have to be reserved for the biggest events or holidays of the year though. Because the majority of our days are spent doing routine or difficult tasks like working or travelling, we all need things to look forward to. Celebrations of all kinds give us the excitement to keep making it through days that seem purposeless. Have you ever felt like life was a little too routine? It is sure that by the time the next holiday we all we be get energized and recharged with the change of mood.
Celebration allows us to relax and unwind in the midst of busy and crazy lives. We use celebrations as an excuse to gather with the friends and family that mean that most to us. We also enjoy celebrations because they allow us to remember the things in life that truly matter. As we celebrate, we allow the stresses of life to fall behind and we spend our time doing things we love with the people we love. There is something about a great celebration that reminds us of the purpose of our life and of the power of our closest relationships.
Celebrations at workplace directly related to productivity, loyalty and job satisfaction. Workplace celebrations are an important in keeping employees happy and energetic. Annual events reaffirm the company's belief that all employees are like one big family. Motivated employees lead to greater productivity and organizational success. These social events enhance employee loyalty too. Different firms have different methods of celebrating the occasions. Some do it through corporate gifts, some through special meals and feasts while some celebrate by big parties on a particular day. Decorating cubicles, distributing gift vouchers and other coupons, organizing contests, lucky draws, fun games and other merry making events are a part of celebrations.
The purpose behind all this is not just to create a great work culture but also to motivate the employees and inculcate a sense of belongingness among them. This will enhance loyalty and motivate employees for a longer stay with the company. These celebrations also pave the path for social interactions among employees with diverse backgrounds. Such interactions also break the barriers created by management hierarchies.
All of you may be very much aware and will have more findings, suggestions or criticisms on the above sentences about celebration. But it helped me to think the importance of participating with the ordinary celebration in my life, still i am not convinced to have luxury on my events. Have you ever noticed about the two aspects of life, one, happiness and two is sadness. You will always have to create happiness or joyous moments which will be the outcome of our some great efforts or happiness comes with the part of our well prepared celebrations. That means, you or someone related to you have to take some efforts to bring the happiness to your life. Then you will have to agree that celebrations are organized to generate some types of happiness in our day-to-day busy life. On the contrary, no effort is required to have unhappy moments or sorrowful time in life, it will automatically, or without any invitations, will enter to your life.
Even though the word Celebration is used several times in our day to day life, we may not have looked deeper in to the interpretations or importance of this in our life. Most of the religions including Christians, Muslims, Hindus all are have given their own ways and directions to have celebrations in various occasions. Countries have different days to celebrate their national days and other important events.
Its getting a bigger subject and I am getting confused for concluding this subject. Lets create some healthy moments to celebrate to energize ourselves.

very true.
Celebrations does have an important role in our lives. sometimes it is these celebrations; around which our lives revolve. For instance, in olden times Onam marked the harvest season, a time of prosperity and joy. children look forward for the holidays and bash that follows. For expatriates, celebrations are special as it marks home coming for many.
There is no point in opposing them for socio-economic reasons. It is the extravagance that takes place in the name of these celebrations that need to be curbed. whatever be the festival, mallus have a tendency to see it as a time to booze around. The record sales at KSBC simply testifies that.
